Aphidoletes aphidimyza is a fast-acting predatory midge that provides broad-spectrum control against over 60 aphid species, including green peach aphids, woolly aphids, and other common greenhouse pests. Ideal for growers seeking a natural, chemical-free solution, this gall midge aggressively reduces aphid populations in greenhouses, interiorscapes, container crops, and orchards. Shipped as pupae, adults emerge quickly and larvae immediately begin hunting aphids, delivering reliable suppression in both localized hot spots and widespread infestations.
How It Works
After hatching from pupae (within 1–12 days), adult midges fly to aphid colonies and deposit eggs nearby. The emerging larvae inject a paralyzing toxin, then pierce the aphid’s body to feed on internal fluids. Each larva can kill up to 60 aphids during development, leaving behind collapsed husks and rapidly lowering pest pressure.
