Fill your trays or pots

BIOSTART is ready to use from the bag. Fill cell trays, small pots, or soil blocks. No rehydrating or sifting needed. The fine texture flows evenly into tight spaces.

Plant seeds or insert clones

Make a small hole or dibble and place your seed or cutting. Use a seed-starting mix like BIOSTART rather than seeding directly into a hot, fully amended soil, which can burn tender roots.

Water lightly and maintain moisture

The dual biochemical buffer makes overwatering harder to do than with standard peat mixes. Keep evenly moist, not saturated. The bioCHARGE biology activates with moisture.

Transplant into final medium

Once roots fill the cell or pot, transplant into BIOFLOWER for flowering, BIOALL for veg, or any soil or soilless medium you prefer.

Can I grow a plant all the way through in BIOSTART, or is it just for starting?

BIOSTART is designed for propagation: seeds, clones, and early seedling growth. It contains a light starter charge (0.20-0.06-0.26) that will get a seedling going but won't carry a plant through a full grow cycle. Once roots fill the cell or pot, transplant into a full-nutrition medium like BIOFLOWER or BIOALL.

What's the difference between BIOSTART and BIOALL for seedlings?

BIOALL has significantly more nutrition (up to 5 weeks) and a coarser texture designed for containers, not propagation trays. BIOSTART has a fine particle size optimized for seed contact, a light nutrient charge that won't burn tender roots, and flows evenly through cell trays and potting machines. If you're starting from seed, BIOSTART is the right choice. If you're potting up a transplant that's already established, BIOALL works.

Do I need to add nutrients to BIOSTART?

For the first 1-2 weeks of seedling life, no. The starter charge handles early growth. After that, it depends on how long you plan to keep plants in BIOSTART before transplanting. If you're moving to a final medium within 2-3 weeks, no supplemental feeding is usually needed. For longer propagation holds, begin light feeding with your preferred nutrient program. BIOSTART works with both organic and salt-based nutrients.

Can I use BIOSTART for clones, not just seeds?

Yes. BIOSTART works for clones, cuttings, and tissue culture transplants. The fine texture provides good contact around the stem base, and the light nutrient charge won't overwhelm unrooted cuttings. The bioCHARGE biology helps colonize new root growth as it develops.

How is this different from FoxFarm Light Warrior or other seed-starting mixes?

Two main differences. First, BIOSTART includes bioCHARGE biology and bioCORE biochar, which means the mix has active beneficial microbes from the moment you plant. Most seed-starting mixes are sterile or near-sterile. Second, bio365 manufactures everything indoors in a controlled facility, so every bag is identical. Outdoor-composted mixes vary batch to batch in texture, moisture, and biological activity.

Does BIOSTART need to be rehydrated before use?

No. BIOSTART ships uncompressed and evenly hydrated. Open the bag and use it directly. No soaking, no sifting, no mixing required. This is a significant practical advantage over compressed peat or coco blocks that require rehydration and breaking apart.

What if I receive a damaged bag or the product isn't right for my setup?

If you receive a defective or damaged unit, email us a photo at help@happyhydro.com and we'll make it right immediately: replacement or refund, your call.
