Steinernema kraussei is a cold-tolerant beneficial nematode designed for effective early-season pest control when other nematodes become inactive. Active at soil temperatures as low as 37°F, this species provides highly reliable suppression of black vine weevils and other soil-dwelling insects in nurseries, greenhouses, landscapes, and potted plants. Carrying the symbiotic bacterium Xenorhabdus nematophilus, S. kraussei quickly kills pests within 48–72 hours of infection.
How It Works
Once applied to moist soil, nematodes actively search for insect larvae. They enter the host insect through natural openings or directly through the cuticle, releasing symbiotic bacteria that kills the pest. As resources decline, nematodes leave the host and seek new prey, maintaining suppression as long as conditions remain favorable.
